Look Out! Christians With Water Bottles!

The Christian movement is growing in this nation at a disturbing rate. It's not that they've chose Christ as their savior that troubles me (hey, whatever gets you through life). It's their bloated intolerance of other people's beliefs and ways of life. Anyone with an opposing view or lifestyle is demonized and, as of Thursday night, worthy of protest.

Mike Daisey is a monolgue performer. He riffs on current events and philosophies much like many performance artists (the ones who don't pour paint on their naked bodies while reading Sylvia Plath in a recreation of being born).

Apparently, 87 people walked out of his perfomance because he had a gag about Paris Hilton that involved the word "fucking". The 87 were apparently Christian choirmembers and their parents and teachers.

One walked on stage and drenched Daisey's hand written script in water. See for yourself.

They objected to the language, but offered no reason as to their objections and insulting behavior. Some murmured that it was the language, but none of their number bothered to research what Daisey's show was all about.

Boston Globe has a full story about the incident. Daisey handled himself very well. He called after the people to stay and talk about what it was they objected to. None had the courage to stand up for their beliefs beyond pouring water in Bailey's art.

Hey, not everything is for everybody. If you find you don't like something, you are free to get up and leave. Defacing personal property is not the same thing.

The Christian (evangelicals especially) are getting vocal. Again, the only thing that scares me about this is not the "I'm Christian and I'm proud" sentiment. It's the total intolerance of others their faith is encouraging.

Somewhere, Christ is wishing he could take his resurrection back.

BE Gets A Mention Via Pat & Fangoria

Body Electric gets mentioned in a Fangoria article on everyone's favorite actress (especially mine) Pat Tallman.

Apparently somebody finally woke Hollywood up about Pat. She's now playing a lead in the new zombie flick Dead Air.

You can read all about it over at Fangoria. Look for the line about Pat doing a string of "little seen short films". That's where Body Electric gets a shout out. Hey, any press is good press.
